So who are you going to believe -- tired old Mr. Garmin GPS with his years-old software and little beeps to alert us to an upcoming turn or slick, hip, high tech Twinkles, the voice of the Droid GPS (named by our grandson, Caleb)? Mr. Garmin said it would take about 6.5 hours to get from Taos to Carlsbad Caverns. Twinkles said we needed over 8 hours. Knowing we needed to be there before 2 p.m., we went with Twinkles and left Taos at 5 a.m. Arrived at the Caverns before noon. So much for those full-of-themselves techies!
Thoroughly enjoyed Carlsbad Caverns. Larry was especially taken with the fact that it was accessible to everyone, some parts even for those in wheelchairs. How many people will ever go caving and see those amazing cave decorations? Another national park jewel!
Spent the night in Hobbs, NM. No mountains but lots of wind.
