That really should say "the biggest house" because that's what The Biltmore is - the largest home in America. We were appropriately dazzled by the size, furnishings, innovations, art and everything about the house. Toured for over two hours and only saw a small portion of the 250 rooms.
Then we spent several more hours in the gardens, conservatory, walking to and around the pond and on the woodland path. We were fortunate to visit during the Festival of Flowers and the gardens were spectacular.
We decided it was necessary to be two more people to tour the most visited winery in the United States. It was a quick tour and great tasting room. We don't have Biltmore Winery wines for sale in Washington so we bought a bottle to bring home.
Trip Advisor delivered another winner for dinner: Early Girl Eatery in downtown Asheville. The downtown area was all that I envisioned after reading so much about it over the years and there were an incredible number of restaurants which makes choosing difficult. But we both had excellent local dinners.
What did you think about the bowling alley at Biltmore? Isn't it an amazing house!
